Memorial Day

Just wanted to say thank you to all of our military men and women. You all have sacrificed your lives so that we can have lazy days at home or fun at the lake. You have given your time, and time with your families. So that we can have cookouts and visit with friends on warm summer days. Thank you all.

My dear friend Kritsi just married a man in the Navy. He is about to get deployed to who knows where. For who knows how long. Before now, I looked at Memorial Day as a day off work. A shortened work week. A time to spend with good friends. Now my friend is in California starting her new life. With her new husband who is one of these military men.

I do admire her. For taking a chance. For believing in love and new beginnings. For the adventure she is about to start.

I can imagine sending my husband off to war. For no telling how long. Not knowing where to. So I dedicate this post to James and all the military men and women. Happy Memorial Day to all. God speed to him and have a safe return home.

My Friend Misty

Meet my friend Misty. She the one in the dark pink. Why is she wearing pink you ask? Well, she has breast cancer. She is so young you say. Yes she is. She is only 27. She is a wife, she has a 18 month old daughter, she has had radiation, and is on her second round of chemo. Wow, that is a lot to take in.

She is also a co-worker.

The lady next to her is Elisha Preston. She is another co-worker/boss, and the one who organized our golf tournament. Her husband Andy (the man in the white shirt) helped to organize also. He has played in lots of charity golf tourneys. So he knows what should happen. He advised us on things from, welcome bags, to door prizes, and just helping all of us limp through.

A lot of work for novice golf tournament organizers. Guess what, we pulled it off. We kept calling each other on Friday to make sure everything was taken care of. As Friday started to draw to a close we realized that it is really going to come together. We might just pull this thing off. Early Saturday May 22, 2010 a group of co-workers, friends, and family got together to raise money for Misty.

Let the sign up begin........

Altogether we had 13 teams sign up...

These guys where sponsored by the company that my husband works for..PDQ Mobile X-Ray.

The guys where great. They came up with the idea for the bright pink shirts themselves. With a little help from some of the wives.

People could sign up to sponsor a team or they could be a hole sponsor. We had several guys sign up and form there own teams. We also had a couple of women sign up to play. My sweet father-in-law and mother-in-law volunteered to be a hole sponsor. Of course they let me pick the hole. Of course, I choose to put them on hole #1!!

Here is Misty and her sweet baby girl Baylee. Isn't she a cutie pie.

She is so cute. Her little shirt said,"help save my ta ta's." To to cute.

Even some of our Doctors came out to play. Bless there hearts, one of the golf carts broke down. One of them and his son had to walk back to the club house. Hauling those heavy golf bags.

Thanks guys for coming out and supporting Misty.

We cooked hamburgers for the players and workers. That sweet man in the pink shirt is my husband Les. He was so kind to help with this. He cooked over 60 hamburger patties. They where GOOOOOD. He didn't even mind all the smoke he inhaled during the cooking process.

Thanks honey, I really appreciate it.

Over all the day was a great success. Everyone worked hard. They pulled together for a friend and a wonderful cause.

It is amazing how people will come out to support and help someone who they do not even know. I stand amazed at the kindness.

We don't have a grand total yet. We are hoping to raise between 4,500 and 5,000 dollars.
We all had a blast. I am so excited to be able to share this with all of my family and friends.

Pumpkins, Flowers, and Boots?!?

Strange title I know. I promise it will all make sense to you in the end.

First off Les was on call this weekend and had to go to Texarkana twice :( So that left Carter Joe and I to fend for ourselves. We got this, we can handle it. We did yard work.

Don't you love the outfit. This is all we want to wear. BOOTS. Thanks to Poppa and Nannie for the Christmas gift. They are getting scuffed up and bruised but he loves them. They are good and comfy now.

We did trim the roses back. Don't worry they will come back. Its crazy they seem to come back as long as we trim them back. They will produce gorgeous roses 3 to 4 times a year. They make the back patio smell so lovely. Les says they smell like beer. Hahaha.

The Roses Up Close and Personal!

We Also Have Hydrangeas!!

Most exciting we have pumpkins growing......

Last fall We bought pumpkins to decorate the front yard. A friend of mine told me to find a spot in the yard and let them rot. Yuk, you think. As I was pulling weeds I found this........

See all the seeds laying around.

And This..................

How awesome is that? Pretty neat. They seem to have come up over night. All we did was move them to the back yard and let them rot. By spring there was nothing but seeds left. Now plants. I can't wait to see if they actually produce new pumpkins. God is amazing.

I showed them to the hubs and said," see those plants, they are pumpkins!! (with excitement) Please don't weed-eat, pull-up, or mow down." He is the best. He said, "OK" and kept doing what he was doing. You got to love him.

Maybe next time you buy pumpkins you can let them rot and see what you get!!!

Have a great week. I plan on it.

SHOTS OUCH!!!!

Don't you just hate them. Our little man had a well check yesterday. He had to get two SHOTS. He did great only crying because we where having to hold him down. As soon as they where done he was fine. He didn't want his daddy to put him down.

BLESS HIS HEART!! Doesn't he look uncomfortable. Such a ham. He didn't run a fever, was just a little more fussy than normal. Oh well it is for his own good.

He did make a haul before leaving the clinic. He got 3 stickers, 2 cookies, 1 sucker, and a square of cheese. I guess it helps that mom works for the doctors office that he is a patient of.
